Youth and Adolescent Health Education Programme

TYHSA promotes healthy lifestyles among adolescents and young people through comprehensive health education, awareness campaigns, school-based interventions, and community outreach activities. The programme is implemented in both school and community settings, ensuring that young people who are in school as well as those who are out of school have access to vital health information and support services.

Our team conducts regular visits to primary and secondary schools, where we facilitate interactive educational sessions on topics such as personal health and hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, HIV and TB prevention, mental health, substance abuse prevention, gender-based violence, healthy relationships, and life skills development. These sessions create safe spaces where learners can ask questions, share experiences, and receive accurate information from trained facilitators.

Beyond schools, TYHSA reaches young people through community dialogues, youth forums, awareness campaigns, door-to-door outreach, sports and recreational activities, and commemorative health events. These platforms encourage open discussions about the challenges affecting adolescents and youth while promoting positive behaviour change and community support. The programme also works closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, community leaders, healthcare workers, and local stakeholders to create an enabling environment that supports the wellbeing and development of young people.

Through referrals and linkages to youth-friendly health services, TYHSA helps young people access HIV testing, TB screening, mental health support, counselling services, sexual and reproductive health services, and other essential healthcare interventions. By equipping adolescents and young people with knowledge, confidence, and practical life skills, the programme empowers them to make informed decisions, protect their health, achieve their goals, and become active contributors to their communities.
